Written summer 2006, one of the first songs I recorded.
There's a man in an office, he writes stories for the paper, he says,
'Recklessness is on the rise again.
Can't you see that something has got to be done, because
the mothers that are crying cause their children have been dying
ain't helping anyone.'

There's a child with a temper, he writes stories for the paper, he says,
'How do you think you'd like to help?
I've been on my own now for a very long time, and from
everything that I have seen there isn't really anything that
you can do for me.'

Take a step back and walk away
Admit that there's something you'd like to say
Don't go let yourself be pushed around
Stand up for what you believe and say it loud

There's a poet with a conscience, he writes stories for the paper, he says,
'Thou dost not do well to run and hide.
In my life there is just one thing I am sure of, that's
though everyone is arguing it isn't solving anything it only makes things worse.'

Take a step back and walk away
Admit that there's something you'd like to say
Don't go let yourself be pushed around
Stand up for what you believe and say it loud

I'm a fool just like them, I write stories for the paper
I know they don't matter, but I write the anyway
