Thoughts on getting older.

Thoughts on getting older.

Time is quickly fleeting,
Even as we speak,
Today, it is tomorrow,
Tomorrow is next week.

Am I truly getting older?
Or can it simply be,
That everyone I see now,
Seems so young to me?

I remember turning 30,
Thinking, this is not so bad.
The next day I was 60,
Thinking back on what I had.

Like a tummy that was flat,
And thighs that didn't jiggle,
How my laugh is now cackle,
When before it was a giggle!

I used to run up flights of stairs,
Still breathing at the top,
But now, to walk up normally,
Brings my heart to near a stop!

Food was not a problem,
I could eat what'er I pleased.
But now what'er I eat remains
B'twixt my waistline and my knees!

There's a lot of white now, in my hair,
And wrinkles in my skin,
My teeth are getting looser,
and there's stubble on my chin!

But worse than all these problems,
Like watching what I eat,
Is something just discovered is
I have my mother's feet!
