Maybe Nicholas isn't that bad after all. |
" Damn you!" I yelled. " What are you so upset about? People think this is your boyfriend." He said motioning at his body. " Oh please. You should feel special that people think I'm your girlfriend." Believe me, I'm not one to be conceited, I'm just shooting back what ever he dishes out. " Oh I do." He says taking a step closer. I pull out a knife. " Don't." I warned. He stops and smiles. " What are you gonna do with that? Last I checked you weren't nearly as fast enough to even knick me." I gripped the end a little tighter. No, don't get pulled in. Stay calm. " Who is this Shaughn?" " Shaughn? I don't know this Shaughn in which you speak." " Nicholas! Answer my damn question!" I was stepping closer, loosing my cool. i'm not a very patient person, especially with leeches. " Put the knife away." I opened my mouth to intervene, but he cut me off. " Now!" I did so. Not even two seconds later the school doors open. " What's going on?" I heard the principal. " Do you have a car?" I asked silently. He nodded. " Let's go." I grabbed his wrist and pulled him further away from the school. " Hey! Where are you going!?" I didn't stop to look at my angry principal. Nicholas suddenly pulled my arm, giving me a sharp turn to the left. He got to a car and I couldn't help but to gawk. If only for a moment. 1969, pearl black chevelle. " Who'd you have to kill to get this?" I asked getting in the car. " Some rich snob. He looked at me funny." I stared at him in disgust. " I'm just kidding. It's mine." He said starting the car. I didn't know whether to believe the first story or not. The purr of the motor calmed my nerves. Every one of my walls fell down, leaving me completely open for any attack. I felt like I did when I was a kid with my father. For the first time in years, I felt, normal. Like I didn't need to be so protective of myself, of my family. " Do you always let your guard down when you get in a car?: He asked, jerking me from my thoughts. Suddenly everything changed. One by one the walls began to rebuild, to block any one or anything from entering my mind. He put a hand on my knee. " You don't have to do that. There's no need to be so jumpy around me." " Need I remind you you're a vampire?" " Need I remind you I've saved your ass twice?" " And tried to kill me twice." He took his hand off of my knee and began to explain. " Our first encounter, I spared your life. Our second encounter on the streets, I wasn't going to kill you, just get your heart racing. I could've killed you numerous times. I could even kill you now." I quickly grabbed a knife. " but I won't." " And why not?" " Excuse me?" " Why won't you kill me?" " Do you really want to die that badly?" " I just want to know why you won't kill me. You've had all these chances and haven't taken one." " I could ask you teh same question." The car suddenly became silent. He was right. I've had chances to kill him. Though none would have been good timing, I still could've done it. Even now, as he's driving I have the perfect chance to, but, for some reason, I don't want to. " He told me to stay away from you." I said after a while. " Who?" " Shaughn." " He's probably right." I looked over at him confused. " but that doesn't mean I'm going to stay away from you." He said with a smile. An actual smile. Not a sneeky, evil, sneer, smirk of a smile. An actual smile. I couldn't help but to smile myself. Just then he wasn't a vampire, but a regular human. " Did I just see you smile?" He asked, smile even bigger. I quickly turned away, though against my own will, lightly blushing. " No." I watched as the car came to a stop in front of my house. I soon found myself laughing hysterically. Nicholas, was tickling me. Though I wasn't tickling him, he was laughing as well. " Stop!" I said backing away. He followed me, not stopping. Tears began to stream down my face. He finally stopped and moved his hands to my face, wiping away my tears. My heart skipped. We both suddenly became serious. He inched closer, looking right into my eyes. I could see something in them that I wasn't quite sure about. Our lips touched. He soon pulled away and smiled. I knew my face was beat red. Before I had a chance to get out of the car, he lightly kissed me again. I quickly got out and walked to my house. Did I really just kiss a vampire? Yeah, I did. And Nicholas non the less. |
