Feeding the body
While the soul is starved
Making do and moving on
Wondering where the love has gone

Life goes on… and on and on
One foot in front of the other
Accomplishing necessary tasks
The reasons why? Need we ask?

Emptiness that defies description
Ache for which there is no prescription
The heart that continues to beat
Providing only the barest heat

The pain that doesn’t seem to lessen
Will we ever assimilate this lesson?
Tears that continue to flow and flow
How much time will have to go?

Here we sit in this living hell
Waiting, watching - never seeing
Don’t dare to hope life can be well
Not for this broken being

Moving on is not an option
The process slows
The grief never goes
A new attitude needs adoption
