Kelly's wish

Kelly lay on her bed daydreaming; she was daydreaming about the last book she had read, Eragon. She was imagining herself in Eragon's place, the dragon rider long awaited by everyone, the hero whom everyone looked up to and adored.
Kelly loved reading, adventure, mystery, fantasy, anything, but she was fed up of the hero always being a boy the more she thought about it the more she realised most of the heroes Were boys. There was Eragon, Dennis in Dennis the menace, Harry Potter... Thank god there were books like Inkheart were Meggie was the hero.

Kelly got up of her bed and went round to her window, from there she could she the forest and the lake. As she looked out of the window she could imagine herself soaring over the lake on the back of a dragon, maybe ducking in and out of the water. Or maybe walking through the shade of the trees of the forest with her dragon by her side.
Kelly started, she had been so taken with daydreaming she hadn't noticed that her mum had come into her room.
"Tea time' her mother said
"Coming" she replied and tore herself away from her window
At the table her brother insisted on giving everyone a very detailed explanation of what a rat looks like when it has been cut open and put on an examination table. Needless to say no one ate an awful lot.

In bed Kelly thought about how great it would be to be a dragon rider, to have a magical contact with such a magnificent beast and to be able to save people and stand up for what she thought was right of course she realised that there would never be any wars to fight in but from her point of view that was fine. It would be fantastic to be taught by elves and dwarves and to be able to use magic and to wield a sword the same colour as her dragon's scales. Kelly lost her train of thought as on owl hooted somewhere outside and settled down to go to sleep.

The next morning when Kelly woke she sat up and looked around her room, she decided that if she really wanted to be a dragon rider then she could never be one if she wasn't used to going days without food, without entertainment and without company. The last was easy, but the first two meant some hard, it was her brother's lucky day. She emptied her room of her PS2, her WII, her plasma screen, her d.s, her ipod, and her p.c. Everything went to her brother, as she sat in the middle of her room half-starved she realised that she would be able to hunt and with that thought rushed down to have a bacon sandwitch.
