Why must the unfaithful be rewarded?
All this weight upon my body
Why must I be the one to bear
All this time spent alone
Really begins to shred one’s sanity.

It’s been so long
So long indeed
Since I’ve felt the gentle caress of a woman
Since I’ve felt like someone truly cared

I’ve been alone so long
I can’t remember a time
When I had someone to stand beside
One who would stay forever.

All these sins I’ve commited
They all add to the Burden
Each and every one felt separately
Each new sin emerging slightly heavier.

Where are you in my time of need
When my reliance upon you is great
What have you done to relieve these Burdens
Why do you leave me to struggle.

I fear that you have left me to die
At the mercy of the Devil’s hands
Not just to die without you here
But to die completely and utterly alone.

Upon this hour I make a choice
A choice that will change history
We may be the only two that care
But as I lose a friend, you cease to exist.

All my friends say you’re busy
Too engaged in not existing to help
As time passes and you stay away
I also begin to believe that you’re otherwise employed

The thoughts around me begin to make sense
They provide evidence where else there is none
I hope and I prey they aren’t true
But eventually these ideas become my own

My friends have accepted the facts they embrace
They have lost all heavenly alliances
And in doing so have found happiness
Would you please explain why father.

Why do you allow them to denounce you?
Why do you reward this heresy with happiness?
Why must your endearing followers suffer?
Why are we the ones who bear the burden.?

I declare this burden no longer to be mine.
Now, may I have the Heretic’s Bliss
The bliss that cries ignorance
The reward due to the brave apostate

Such a wonderful thing this Bliss
A peace of mind liberal of all suffering
Free of all things in need of recompense
Free of all sin.
