Dear Mother,
How are you doing? Oh, so many things have happen. Construction workers have cut down the woods around our house. They are clearing out the land to build big, fancy mansions for barons to move into. Some barons in very decent clothes have already come to see some houses with a realtor. It’s quite a sight to see.
There is some very good news and some very bad news. The bad news is that the Government sent us a letter commanding us to get rid of all of our hogs. We cannot live without them! It’s all because the barons won’t be able to stand the “pig smell”. How spoiled they are. Matthew and Mark helped my husband go auction off the good hogs. Some hogs had to be butchered.
The good news is that I got a working permit and got a job at a factory! We are now making more money, but the job is making me very tired and it doesn’t nearly give me enough time to do all the housework when I go home.
Don’t worry about Matthew and Mark. They don’t stay home by themselves, so you won’t have to come watch them. They started school and have a lot of homework to keep them occupied.
Just in case you ever want to come over, you won’t get to go inside because nobody will be inside. My husband is always working outside on the farm.
Say hi to the family for me.
                                                                            Love, your daughter,
                                                                                    Mrs. Garner
