This is a poem for my 4 year old granddaughter about my fuzzy pajamas, a gift from her.
Quite some time ago,
When I can’t recall.
A special gift was given me
By my granddaughter so small.

A pair of fuzzy jammies
So soft and cuddily
With penguins playing in the snow,
They filled my heart with glee.

For a year, I wore those jammies,
Morning, afternoon and night
Until all who saw them said,
They were a threadbare sight.

One sad night I knew
I had to throw them away
I replaced them with another pair,
For which I had to pay.

As I snuggled into bed,
I felt I'd lost a friend.
I was cold and couldn’t rest
I thought the night would never end.

Finally I fell asleep
And slept for a little while
Then I awoke, sat up in bed,
And could not help but smile.

Magically it happened
My jammies were on me
Not torn, worn out and tattered,
But brand new ones, you see.

For many years these jammies,
Have given me delight
And warmth and comfort in my bed
When I couldn’t sleep at night.

Every time that they wear out
And I throw them away.
A new pair suddenly appears
And I know they're here to stay

The mystery of the jammies
Has not been solved to date.
I hope one day the answer comes
Before, sadly, it's too late.

My granddaughter now has grown
And gone out on her own
But when she comes home to me,
She is always shown

A brand new pair of jammies
With penguins in the snow.
And I thank her once again
For her gift of long ago.
