In our world today, an estimated 65,500 adopted children are living with a lesbian or gay parent. That is Latest statistics from the U.S. Census 2000, the National Survey of Family Growth (2002), and the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System. Although that is a large number of children it is only four percent of all adopted kids in the U.S. Therefore I believe that there was no need, especially in Colorado for Gov. Bill Ritter's signature which now allows same-sex couples to adopt in Colorado. I believe that gay and lesbian adoption should not be legal because it is not a normal or stable environment, it is harmful to the child, and it disrupts the organization of a family in society.
First, putting a child who usually has no say in the arrangement into an environment where he/she is lacking either a mother or a father is only half of what the child needed in the first place. Sure it may be better than having no parents at all but that child will grow up missing half of their life and who knows what repercussions may stem out of that.
Next, there is not enough psycho analysis at this point to determine for a fact that children raised by homosexual parents are experiencing difficulties, but we do know that, according to the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States, 86.7% of LGBTQ youth reported frequently hearing homophobic remarks. This therefore states that gay or lesbian children are mocked and have a tougher time in society which puts a road block in their learning and who knows what other re-precussions. It is a stated fact that children growing up in homosexual homes are more likely to become homosexual themselves. This is just common sense, kids learn by example and the question is…is it good for society to be multiplying our number of homosexuals if, in fact there are negative repercussions and would it play a role to break down society as a whole?
The foundation of our society is the family. Your normal everyday family with a mom and a dad and I fear if we take that out from underneath Colorado, or any state for that matter it may be the beginning of a major collapse in societal standards and organization as a whole. Just think about it….

Gov. Ritter agrees. "We must do all we can to strengthen families and provide children with as stable an environment as possible," he told The Gazette. "This law will give children a better chance to succeed." If so, how is legalizing adoption of children into unstable, no matter how loving they are, homes and setting them up to be another face in this landslide we call society? I fear this is only the beginning… where will it stop?
