I wrote this poem after a very close friend/lover of mine died. i loved her so much...
Angry gray clouds swirl overhead
Leaves float around me lifelessly as though they too were dead
I just stand there and stare down at her grave
Then I fall down to my knees and look to the skies like a slave
Begging the gods to return their angel to me
The clouds just swirl and swell, threatening to explode
My request denied, fury takes over my eyes
A cry of rage escapes my lungs, piercing the sound barrier and reaching the heavens
The gods all stop and stare at the human roaring like a demon
They too become angry, furious at the human making demands of the gods
The clouds swirl faster, becoming tornadoes and the wind screams like a banshee
Eyes as red as the devil’s, I continue to roar and curse the heavens for their theft
My cries and the Gods’ fury: two explosive forces threatening to engulf the world
I defiantly stare into each of their eyes like a soon-to-be inmate flipping off the judge
The wind pushes and claws at me and the clouds threaten to burst in my face
I struggle to hold my ground, gripping tightly on her gravestone and looking to the sky
The gods furiously hurl lightning bolts at the earth around me, hoping to scare the furious human away
Then I see her…standing in the heavens looking down at me with the same beautiful smile as before
My fury ceases and I collapse onto her grave, the gods are confused…they almost seem to feel my pain
Then the clouds burst and cool rain pours down on me, cooling my hot skin and calming me
Looking to the skies I see that the rain drops are the tears of the gods…the gods cry too
