Skin Pt.I

The synopsis of an interesting relationship

You told me how our skin
looked so good together
And the orange light thru the blinds
always made all those lines

And this relationship in real life
not quite as crazy as in my head-
It’s really making me think,
while learning to cut that off on my end.

Can’t help but think of all of these non-consistencies-
Age, ‘baggage’ and passions that don’t quite match
I don’t think I’d call you a mistake,
More a stepping stone on the road,
Showing me myself, in ways I’ve never yet known.
You’ve helped me quite a bit,
Really made me quit,
A bit
of my insecurities,
Helped me open up
and have a little fun,
Being an adult,
responsibly.

And I don’t know how long we’ll run,
I guess til one of us moves on,
But that’s how I feel,
Truly inside,
Your skin pressed against mine,
the contrast fresh in my mind.
