A short poem about love, loss, and life. |
Because of you, each spring I venture into the woods inhaling the sweet, budding newness surrounding me and fervently search for the first clump of hepatica breaking through the last frozen blanket of winter's crystalline covering. And I remember… Because of you, each summer I curl my toes deep into the cool sugar sand as I sit by a crackling beach bonfire at day's end drinking in the splendor of blazing sunsets as they unfold their brilliant tapestry across the star studded northern sky. And I remember… Because of you, each autumn as the greenery of summer gives way to crimson reds, burnt oranges, and golden yellows, I find my way to the water's edge and watched transfixed as rower's dance and glide across the sparkling lake like spiders on clear blue glass. And I remember… Because of you, each winter I have no fear of bitterly cold howling winds as I linger by my laughing fire watching the flames crackle and spit, dance and twirl, sigh and drift Heavenward chasing away the chill, enveloping my spirit. And I remember Because of you, My life: A kaleidoscope of Beauty Tenderness Awe and belonging All needed to weather the coming days when the inevitable journey ahead of me becomes one of Disillusion Apathy Fear and Rejection And in moments of Despair, I fail to remember… |
