| [NOTE: This was created because at the beginning of 10th grade I was assigned to create a poem using a couple small phrases from the Billy Collins poem "On Turning Ten" I believe they are "Now I am mostly at the window" and "dark blue speed". Now I am mostly at the window Watching my life go by Day by day, page by page The never ending story comes alive Always watching, waiting with weary eyes Simplicity would be a blessing To undo the complexities of time Every mistake, every step Always wondering how it will unwind The season is always winter In a constant flurry of bright white snow My face always burnt by the cold If only for just one day it could be summer, I say But my eyes might be frozen shut by the warmth Just as a cat can kill a dog Just as a person can rot to the core The dark blue speed of sound Is painful to my ears Make it stop, make it stop I only want one more year For to be what I am now A child in a grown up world Can only instill fear If could erase this, I would Take away the pain of one generation Take away the lies |
