All my entries for Writer's Craft! |
April 14th All your life you’ve lived on the moon, but now you get to go to Earth for a vacation. What are you going to do? Write about your experience of that visit to Earth. (Extra credit if it’s child friendly, but, of course, that’s not mandatory.) ENTRY Sit down my children To a story, I shall give birth About my taking a trip from the moon to the depths of planet Earth. I got my rocket ticket As part of a secret boon From a dear friend of mine Who lives on the moon When eating there You eat with a spoon We slurp from our bowls When eating on the moon The weather was snowy Instead of sunny like the moon Humans said they only get all sun In July, August and June! In the park, I ate pretzels We don't have those on the moon But my food was soon stolen And eaten by a loon! Yes the Earth is beautiful Just like the moon But to tell you the truth I won't be going back soon. ------------------------------------------------ April 10th Science Fiction can be the tweak that takes you elsewhere. Use the following story starter to either introduce a poem or begin a story about waking up and finding yourself in a very, different future: I’d always risen from the left side of my bed. That’s why when I woke up Saturday morning and found my bed pushed up against the wall on that side, it started off my day all wrong. I wish that had been the ONLY difference . . . ENTRY I woke up on my right A physical fright I'm sure it was morning But it was as dark as night My kitten barked like a dog and was as heavy as a log She'd instantly grown up And ate like a hog My car became a bike With a wheel popped by a spike To get to work now Would take a five mile hike I can't take this anymore I don't care what else is in store I'm never touching that bed again Tonight, I'll be sleeping on the floor! |
