Abortion Essay

Did you know that a baby’s heart beats for the first time within 3 weeks of conception and that within the first 40 days brain waves can be recorded? Every year women have abortions and every year defenseless little babies are murdered. Abortion should be considered murder, be made illegal, and those who still do it should be tried as a murderer. Abortion is ending life.
         Two of the cruelest things in the world are child abuse and murder. When these crimes are committed all cringe, and those who do the crimes are punished severely. Yet everyday approximately 126,000 people, world wide, do not get punished for both these crimes. Abortion is both these things, murder and child abuse and those 126,000 people are the women having the abortions. In the United States alone 3,700 women get by with it. A baby is aborted at all points of gestation, many have been done at 9 months when it is possible to induce labor, deliver the baby and it survive. If a woman has a miscarriage it is considered the death of a baby, but if she gets an abortion it is just getting rid of a ball of unwanted cells. How can we allow such things to be? How can these murders go unpunished? From 4 to 9 months of gestations a saline abortion is often done. A saline abortion is basically just taking the ammonic fluid out and adding a concentrated salt solution in place. The baby swallows the poison, choking and gasping, while it burns her skin. She is still alive during all of these and can feel it all, she frails around fighting for her life, for hours, until her murder is complete. Also at this age Dilation and Extraction is used to kill the unwanted baby. Dilation and Extraction, also referred to as D & X, is where the abortionist grabs the baby’s legs to position it face down with feet first, pulls it out of the birth canal until only it’s head remains inside (it will not fit though), then he takes blunt tipped surgical scissors and jams them into the base of the skull and spreads open the tips to widen the wound. Now we all wish this would be the only thing needed to kill the baby, so that it wouldn’t hurt anymore but it isn’t so, after the wound is opened wide enough he will insert suction catheter into the baby’s skull and sucks out the brain, which then allows the skull to collapse to where he can finish pulling the, now dead, baby out of the mother. Imagine feeling that type of pain, wouldn’t you want the person who did this to you to be punished?
         Furthermore, if a person was to starve an animal or treat it inhumanly in any way, shape or form they would be punished by the law. The punishments range from felonies to misdemeanors depending on what is done. They could be sentence to up to 5 years in jail and a $25,000 fine in Illinois. In Alabama the fines can be as high as $150,000 and in Louisiana you could be sentence to 10 years in jail. All states have laws against the abuse of animals but 34 do not have anything against abortion and the other 16 are basically “only on the books.” Why do we allow people to hurt babies yet not animals? Are animals more important?
         On the other hand many think that an unborn baby cannot feel, if this was true why would they squirm to get away from the abortionist. Still others think that it is okay if it is done before the baby is four months along, but the death of these babies are just as sad and painful. For unborn babies of that age they usually break the body to pieces, suck it out with a vacuum like device and after it is out put it together like a puzzle to make sure there are no missing pieces. Some more still claim that they are “not alive” or “not human”. To be alive means that you are growing, developing, maturing, and replacing old cells and to be human means that you have 46 human chromosomes in every cell. President Ronald Reagan said “The real question today isn’t when human life begins, but, ‘What is the value of human life?’ The abortionist who reassembles the arms and legs of a tiny baby to make sure all its parts have been torn from its mother’s body ca hardly doubt whether it is a human being” Then there are the ones who say most abortions are done because of a rape has occurred or it can harm the mother, but this isn’t true, only 1% of women who have abortions have them because of they were raped and only 6% because it could harm the mother. 93% of women have abortions because the pregnancy is unwanted or inconvenient. Still others claim that it is teenagers and children under the age of 15 that have the most abortions, while in truth teenagers only make up 20% of the total abortions and children under 15, only 1.3%.
         We all need to come together and stop the murders of these innocent babies. Millions of these murders go unpunished, let us do all we can to make it illegal to abort a baby. Protest, talk to senators, congress, do something to help save the most innocent of innocents.
