Romantic tragedy........ listen at myspace.com/magnoliaboulevard

Josiah stared out into a faded night
Fighting off memories and thinking of alibis
If only life was just like all the things he dreamed about
Then maybe he could fall asleep tonight

He says “Josephine, I must have dreamed you to life,
Your curls make a crown around your face in soft light
And all we know is what we’re told and most of it is lies
Please just lay beside me tonight”

“I know the choices I have made were wrong
But these mistakes and your love have made me strong
If only I had a single chance to turn it all around
Escape off like a thief without a sound”

But she says
“No! You let me down!
I often lose you in the sound
Of your voice and all the lines.
Josiah, I have tried!
But you’re asleep inside your head,
And the warmth has left our bed.
Each morning and every night
Just pass without an alibi”

“Josiah, why are you crying?
Your choices are our knife”
“Josephine, why are you leaving me?
…My blood has turned to wine”
She says, “No, Josiah…I’ve made up my mind”

But when morning came, it brought the rain to Prophetstown
They laid embraced and talked all of their burdens down
“Josephine, we could be free of all the chains that hold us
If only we could lift this off our shoulders”

“The demons hide in the riches of our neighbors
The penance for their sins makes it ours for the taking
If we could, it would all be good, we would never have to hide
Escape off like Icarus to the sky”

But she says
“No! You let me down!
I often lose you in the sound
Of your voice and all the lines.
Josiah, I have tried!
But you’re asleep inside your head,
And the warmth has left our bed.
Each morning and every night
Just pass without an alibi”

“Josiah, why are you crying?
Love is never kind”
“Josephine, why are you leaving me?
…My sins will fade in time”
She says, “No, Josiah…I’ve made up my mind”

"They followed us to the ocean
As we fell into the sea
My love, have we always been drowning?"

"We burned all of the feathers
That our fathers said we would
My love, take your final look…"

Josiah kissed her one last time that night
With bloody lips and ever-fading eyes
“Josephine, I didn’t mean for things to end this way”
He wiped her tears as she tried to smile
“…Josiah, love can still be kind
…Yes, I’ve finally made up my mind”
