This is a poem about sticking around for what is yet to occur.
See What Else We May Find

Night time fell slowly
as the sun made its descent
into the crimson distance
where fables take place.

I found myself basking
in the glow of love’s warmth,
basking in solitude
where two became one.

Dim starlight shone
on curtained windows
in a room where
laughter rang true.

Sapphire eyes shaded
in the dimness
looked past the exterior,
seeing deep inside.

Heart truths aren’t visible
to naked eyes.
Love must polish the sheen
seen before the dawn.

Fingertips traipsing over skin
bearing the scars of time.
Erasing hurts, enlivening joy,
sending both into the abyss.

Darkness wasn’t present as
two became one,
light shines down from far above
when we imbibe in precious love.

And love continues to be painted on the walls
where once the glistening had been dulled,
ecstasy brought it to new heights and
wayward birds were called home.

Sunset’s glow of orange and purple,
colors of royalty and wealth
have set my heart to wondering,
from where does this feeling come?

Stars don’t know the answers.
Lovers don’t question the questions.
But there that feeling rises
in the hours between sunset and dawn.

And the sun rose up for the day,
finding two were really one.
The soul knows the answers
to questions lovers don’t ask.

Entwined in an embrace of slumber,
skin upon skin, breathing in sync,
we slept the night through and
woke to find hearts touching within.

Miles traveled to feel such bliss,
a lifetime gone to missing the kisses
you gave last night.
Stay for awhile, see what else we may find.
