Guardian Angel

The clouds completely blanketed the sun
As the rain dripped slowly to the ground.
The hill was all empty except for one,
One girl who stood there not making a sound.
The rain matted her hair onto her head
As her chin fell to her chest when she cried.
“Be ready for me at seven,” he said,
But no one could predict the road that night.
She got a call around eight o’ clock,
From his dad that had a hard time speaking.
He said “He was car-jacked, then he was shot,”
Then his voice shook as he started weeping.
The phone fell from her hand to the floor,
She collapsed on her knees and prayed to God.
She cried, “He was all I wanted and more.
Why’d you take him away, why is he gone?”
As her mind ran through that night near his grave,
She felt a little tap on her shoulder.
And when she turned around, she saw his face,
And she felt so safe when he was holding her.
He said “God sent me to look out for you,
He told me to keep you safe everyday.
I told Him I’d do the best I can do,
I’ll be your guardian angel all the way.”
Then he was gone, but the rain kept falling,
And when she looked she was alone again.
She jumped to her feet and started calling,
Hoping the accident never happened.
Yet, that gravestone couldn’t be denied,
But she knew somehow he was still there.
Because now she had comfort when she cried,
For she knew her guardian angel cared.
