poem about a young girl that learns a lesson about happiness from an old woman
Long, long ago in a place far away,There lived a lady who was happy, gay.
She grew flowers of red, pink and blue she was so tiny she wore a size zero shoe
Her hair was long and silvery gray digging and planting she would do all day
Humming a tune to be heard through the valley her song reached the ears of
a girl named sally.Sally followed the music up the dark trail and saw a frail lady
with a blue pail. The smell of flowers strong in the air she noticed the lady's long
silver hair. Her song was a sweet melody that led her to this old woman to see.
Sally spoke saying your heart sings with such joy like a child with a new toy
Where does this come from so much cheer? The old woman said listen my dear
You hear the birds singing, rustling breeze?the tiny chipmunk climbing a tree?
You hear the flowers pushing up through the ground? with all these joys who
could frown?People dont listen to what the earth has to say.My hearts like a bird
in the warm sun through the fields i long to run.Sally laid there as the clouds tip toed by.and wondered if she had ever really looked at the sky.She heard birds singing a squirrel running past. With each new sound her heart beat fast .Sally bid the woman a cheery farewell and headed back down the mountain trail.Theres no such thing as silence it doesnt exist. She thought to herself as the breeze blew her a kiss. She shared what she learned with all she knew as she remembered the lady with the size zero shoe.
