It's what we as parents should talk about but instead choose the safe route.
Beats two in the bush." is what her mother said, not fully
understanding where that had come from. But secretly knowing she was telling her
daughter of her own short comings." Please be good to yourself love you
and don't let just anyone have they run over you." Good advise mom
thought to herself knowing that those same words and this same speech were
said to her verbatim and producing the exact same results some 25 years
earlier. See, mom knew her daughter was a hopeless romantic to say the
least. She would look her daughter in the eyes just as her mother did
her and tell her the cold hard facts of life just like her mother had
done to her. And before she breathed the first word of the first sentence
of this ten minute speech she knew would not affect her daughters' life
in anyway but as to distance them further away from each other. But
this was her daughter and she wanted so desperately to tell her that love
is like smoke, unpredictable and gone too soon. It's best to not deal
with it in the first place because you only had one heart. A man could
either love you onto another plane in development or damage you forever.
Her daughter was not ready to understand this because love had been
delicate on her it had not yet broken her and twisted her yet so how could
she appreciate this open-ness by her mother if she had not really lost
at love." she pondered all this as she told her daughter the safe story
really preparing her for this very day fast forward twenty-five years.
she smiled to herself as she finished the first minute in her speech
"Ma I Finale understand what you meant by A bird in the hand beats two in
the bush."
