I'm not a connoisseur of poetry by any means, shape or form and I am not the best at reviews but I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. There are two meanings that I interpret play a nice role in today's current events; with how the adults see the younger generation as hoodlums and seeing us as a pointless generation.
Just because how the younger generation may dress, what they may listen too, or mistakes that they made at an age where the brain is not fully developed in critical areas for decision-making shouldn't put them in the same category as serial killers and murderers. If only more people could protest for fairness using poetry and literature (pen mightier than sword?) rather than taking to the streets to cause chaos or set up horrific ambushes.
I remember being in an office talking with my former commander once and him telling me how he sat in a meeting with other senior commanders/officers and them telling him how foolish and clueless our generation is and how hard it is to understand us. He spoke up by saying that we will always have our differences and from a distance he couldn't possibly understand an eighteen year old's actions compared to his forty plus year old mentality but that's their job as commanders/supervisors to get close so you can know and understand all their people. He went on to say that it isn't our generation that is clueless but theirs, our generation understands the technology of today and is adapting faster than any generation. While we don't have the same face-to-face communication that theirs did, we are way faster and efficient at getting the message across.
Lots of things can be taken from this piece and it was easy to read. Better pay attention, adults! ;)
