I enjoyed this story. I found it a very readable – it flowed from beginning to end. The characters of the ministers, though briefly sketched, painted life-like pictures of the reality of the differences between ministers of different denominations. I smiled, but not quite laughed, at the gentle humour and liveliness in this short story. It is well written and well told, and I think you have the makings of a longer work if you choose to extend the story. The main part focuses on Fr Matthews and accident with the crib, and I’m sure you could find ways of bringing the other ministers’ characters to life as well. Good work - Tom
I read your poem a few times, and each time I had more of a sense of what are trying to convey - flight, speed, escape, freedom. I did not easily understand it on the first reading and I also found it a little jarring to read. So I hope you won't mind a suggestion, though of course, as its your work, and you have a particular view of what you want to say and convey, you must feel free to ignore me if you wish. I would leave out 'Zoom and roar,
Loom and soar', or find another, softer way of conveying the same meaning. Otherwise, its a great set of images and I can almost see the animal take flight... Regards, Tom
