Gifted memberships aren't "free" exactly. Someone pays for them, either with money or gp (which someone had to purchase with money). *Smile*

You don't get things in the mail with a membership as far as I know. Are you thinking of the mailed merit badges? Those are an extra that you can purchase for someone if you get them a merit badge. *Thumbsup*

Found out about this site yesterday and registered. It's WAY better than the site I was previously on (nanowrimo.org). I would recommend writing.com to any aspiring writer.
