Well, you arrived on Day 1 of the WdC 23rd birthday! Just so you know, it's not always like this. The MAIN festivities will be September 1-7, but many activities, like my own "WdC 2023 Birthday Review Raffle - CLOSED" , will last all month.
I always tell newbies this, but ESPECIALLY now, you REALLY should check out the Community Newsfeed! Scroll, Like, click on links, comment, and get to know people. No, you won't get it like we do, but still, I do hope you have fun checking things out.
The Community Newsfeed is where you find what's going on around all of WdC (within your rating limit), not just in your tiny corner of the site. We all of a plus sign like this. Schnujo's Doing NaNoWriMo? If you click a person's plus at least once (though twice is better), you'll start seeing what the post on the Newsfeed. So right now, you probably only see things from WdC. But there's a lot more people posting a lot more stuff, especially right now. The Community Newsfeed remove the filters (except rating filters) so you see what EVERYONE is posting, not just people you're connected to. It's a great way to meet new people and discover new activities.
To get there, go to your Personal Newsfeed, the default when you click Newsfeed on the left side of your computer screen. On your Personal Newsfeed, scroll a little to see what you see, then come back to the top. Along the top of your Personal Newsfeed you'll see "View the Community Newsfeed." Click that and you'll see SO MUCH MORE! Scroll, Like, comment, enjoy!
I hope you'll visit the Community Newsfeed each time you come to the site, but if not, at least once or twice a week.
For your items you wrote, congratulations! That's awesome! Though people are lazy, so you'll likely get more reviews if you post a link. (But since you're new so probably no one has clicked your plus to start seeing your posts and not that many people get on the Community Newsfeed, despite my constant harassment about it hardly anyone will see this yet anyway. )
I'll show you how to create a link using my challenge I always run, "The Contest Challenge" . Feel free to check it out as well.
You need the 7-digit item number, found below the title, though it will often automatically pop up after the colon, and you need the curly braces located above the square brackets on your keyboard. NO SPACES!
To be continued...
Anyway, here's the example...
{item:2109126} = "The Contest Challenge"

This will help you get more readers as you start getting more fans.
BTW, I mentioned the bit about preferably people clicking your plus sign twice (until they see the megaphone) because that notifies you that they're following you. Some people, like me, reward new fans. (Hint, hint... ) Most folks don't, but some of us do. But we can only reward our fans if they've actually FANNED us so we know. If you only click the plus once, until you see the finger with the string, it's private and I'll never know unless you comment or Like my stuff. But even then, I don't keep track of who does that that isn't on my fan list. So, when I go to reward all my fans from time to time, only people on my list get rewarded, regardless of how interactive they've been with me.
Anyway, good luck and welcome! And remember, it's not always this crazy around here.
