It's funny, but while music with lyrics always helps me get in the right mood for a particular type of story, I have an easier time writing with instrumental music playing. Sometimes I can do music with lyrics, but most of the time, it slows me down. I do like to have theme songs that get me in the right mode for certain characters, though. Often, I'll have a song that I'll play before I sit down to work on a longer story that takes multiple days to write. It helps me find the right mood/voice. For my NaNo novel, it was Halsey's "Tradition". For Galatea, it was a Billie Eilish song called "everything i wanted". For my recent Screams story Escape, it was Digital Daggers "The Devil Within".

Come now, Ray! This morning someone paid for my coffee before I pulled up to the Starbucks window. Made my day. And I paid for the person behind me. Hopefully it made theirs.

While they hardly solve the world's energy conundrum in one earth-shattering change, the tiniest little things sometimes make all the difference in the world, and we're all capable of making them happen.

Besides, Netflix and two-day delivery from Amazon rock! XD

At that point in my life, I'll be yelling at shadows and trying to remember if I now wear diapers or not.

But somewhere in that squishy pink thing locked in my skull, I'll remember you. I'll remember all of you.

Mind is Willing, Flesh is Weak

Brain fog.

What can you do to cut through the haze? To energize an exhausted body that just wants to become an apathetic lump of flesh? Right now, it's a struggle to even put a few words together when the couch calls me with soft cushions and warm blankets. Can I just pause time and sleep for a short eternity?

But write I must.

After imbibing an unhealthy amount of caffeine, I guess it's time to vomit out some nonsense so I can pave way for introspective thought and flowery prose. Gods, my head is killing me. There's a ridiculous amount of editing involved before I can even consider putting my next book online. I've half a mind to just put my unpolished works up and call it a day. But that wouldn't end well... People can be awfully harsh critics. Especially when they know I could do better. Of course, I can.

But do I have the stamina to make it happen?

If you are reading this, send some coffee and encouraging vibes to this weary dude. Otherwise I just might end up being swallowed up by the towering sin of sloth that's cradling my tender skull.
