Logocentric (adj).Regarding words and language as a fundamental expression of an external reality (especially applied as a negative term to traditional Western thought by postmodernist critics).
Sometimes I just write whatever I feel like. Other times I respond to prompts, many taken from the following places:
Kit - have you ever considered playing D&D online? There are some great communities that run games on VTTs (virtual tabletops) like Roll20 and Foundry, where you can play remotely. The group I'm currently with is all in-person, but my last group used Roll20 when one of our group moved to another state, and it was a really effective way to keep him involved. You can find people running one-off adventures, or entire campaigns.
Yeah, I'm really excited to see what happens in 2026 with all the rule changes. This year should be interesting too with so many changes in driver lineups, but my coworker (who's also into F1) and I have been talking about what's coming in 2026 since last year!
I've always wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons. Sadly, I have never found anyone to play it with - living in a rural area has its disadvantages. I'll just have to stick to reading fantasy novels! I am glad that you found a nice group, though.
I am with you on Formula 1. It's a really interesting sport, and if you enjoy the technical side of things next year should be extra interesting because of all the changes (plus an extra team, it'll be fun to see how that changes the dynamics).
Right now, I am looking forward to seeing how Yuki does in the Red Bull!
Kit — I'm mostly rooting for Hamilton to finally get his record-breaking eighth Driver's Championship (especially after losing it so narrowly in 2021!), although at this point I think I'd be happy with anyone winning who's not named Max Verstappen. I'm really excited to see what Hamilton and LeClerc can do together at Ferrari this year. On the Constructors' side, other than Ferrari, I'd love to see if McLaren can hold onto the top spot for the second year in a row; although I'm also a fan of the underdogs and I have a soft spot for Haas and Williams.
Another Formula 1 fan! Not many of those around here. Who's your favourite team/driver? My favourite, Valtteri Bottas, doesn't have a seat for the 2025 season. I'll be hoping for Hamilton, Piastri and Tsunoda to be successful this season, though I also like Alonso and Leclerc.
Grin. I loved Psych! I rewatched White Collar approx a month ago. Having issues finding good new shows so I've resorted to rewatching my favorites from old.
Currently rewatching Castle, Supernatural, and Buffy/Angel.
Enjoyed The Great and Lady Jane Grey, sad they both got cancelled. The "I made a teddy bear" episode on The Great was so funny hubby and I had to rewatch that scene 4 times before we could finally stop laughing hysterically at it.
Thanks for your recaps of shows- it's given me some new items to add to our lists.
Aiva Raine - I've actually watched all three! PERSON OF INTEREST was a really good show, but WHITE COLLAR and BURN NOTICE (along with another great USA Network show called PSYCH) are some of my favorite television shows of all time. I actually just started rewatching WHITE COLLAR a few weeks ago!
Wasn't aware that there was a movie for "What we do in the shadows"- thought it was just a TV show on Hulu. Thanks for sharing that tidbit- will find the movie and add it to our watch list. The TV show is quite humorous.
I also enjoyed the Lincoln Lawyer- need to watch the newest season.
Have you ever checked out Person of Interest, White Collar, or Burn Notice? If so, did you enjoy them?
Just missed seeing the moon landing by a few years and as one of those "old people", I will admit to being depressed at our lack of space progress. Sure, we've got great new telescopes that are letting us see wonderful things way out in space, but we still haven't even put a man back on the moon again after all this time. Putting someone on Mars looked promising for a while, until Elon Musk went all nutso and can't stop mucking up everything. Yeah, he's got reusable rockets, but we aren't really progressing much beyond that.
I truly hope I can live long enough to see humans do some real space exploration. Because even though I didn't see the original moon landing in person- watching it on TV after the fact still was pretty freaking cool. Although watching the Challenger blow up from our desks at school sucked. Here's hoping we get to bring the astronauts stuck in space home soon. Maybe NASA can work with someone besides Boeing for that!
I had a weird experience finding this song... I wasn't familiar with an artist named COTTA, but I was sure I'd heard this version of Go West's hit song "King of Wishful Thinking" before. It was bugging me until I realized where I'd heard it before; it was actually a contestant's audition for a singing competition. Cassidy Mackie was a semi-finalist on Season 11 of The Voice Australia, and this was her audition that got her selected for the competition. I'm not entirely sure why she released the song under the name COTTA since she currently seems to be an acoustic wedding and event performer under her given name, but I'm so glad I found this track on Spotify because this is one of my all-time favorite songs, and I think this is a beautiful, modern update of a song with an original that feels very dated and 80s (not that that's a bad thing all the time... ).
