Summary of this Book...
This book is about a four-year old boy who wanders off from an accident and gets lost. His mother is found unconscious after getting into an accident during a terrible storm. She goes frantic trying to find Kyle, who has severe autism. A volunteer fireman comes on the case and Kyle is found. The fireman, Taylor, befriends the mom, and they fall in love. But he has struggles of his own; he can’t seem to allow himself to fall in love. He finds women who need “rescuing”, then leaves them once their life crisis is over. Taylor connected with Kyle in deep personal ways, helping him to make progress in his social development. This book is a sweet love story about how people “rescue” each other.
This type of Book is good for...
Fans of Nicholas Sparks. This is definitely a love story, with a “recue” theme woven through it.
I especially liked...
I liked the "rescue" theme: the child being rescued from the accident, and in some ways, being rescued from some of the difficulties of his autism, the mother being rescued from the struggles of single-mother life, Taylor being rescued from his difficulty falling in love.
I didn't like...
I had trouble getting through this book. I thought the most exciting part was the beginning when Kyle was lost. From there, the book seemed to plateau with all the mention of how Taylor reached out to this severely autistic child.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Not read another Nicholas Sparks novel.
This Book made me feel...
Like I was back in school, studying Autism and how to work with children who have autism; like I was reading a text book
The n/a of this Book...
obviously did his research about autism, as there was so much research on the subject in the book.
I recommend this Book because...
It is a sweet love story
I don't recommend this Book because...
All the mention of Kyle and how Taylor “reached” him and helped him in his social development, became so repetitive, and boring
