I am a software developer and I think there is not a big difference between writing a computer program or a story. It should transfer a message to the reader, either a human or a computer, it should achieve a change in the state of mind of the reader, i.e. something to think about. I like stories which stay on your mind for weeks or even several months after you have read them. In any case it is a product of my mind and when I'm writing I reveal something from my most private thoughts and let people come closer to me, it is like an invitation.
