The story of a vampires peace from the torment of his own mind |
The dark creature sat on the small concrete wall which ran along the edge of the beach, unnoticed by the casual people walking along the pathway that ran Adjacent with the wall. The creature was dressed in entirely in black with his head down staring at one of his hands which was covered in dry blood. He held a knife in his other hand and he proceeded to push the knife through his open hand. He savored the pain that this created because he felt so numb that the pain was the only sensation that could get through to him, this seemed the only way he could actually feel something. He left the knife stuck within his hand for a while and watched as the wound healed around it ever so quickly. Once the wound had healed as much as it could while the knife was still impaled within it he slowly pulled the knife out, reopening the wound and the pain. Fresh warm blood began to flow over his hand again. He watched as the blood ran off his hand and began to drip on the ground. He listened to the noise that the drops made, the dull thud that no normal human could possible hear. He felt like he had lost everything in his life that made him feel alive and all he had left now was echoing memories of the deaths that he had caused and the countless mistakes he had made throughout his life. A life that spanned as far as he could ever remember. He wished he could just end it all, he wished that the sun that was shining so brightly in the sky would just reach down and burn him up. He looked at the knife that he held in his hand and wished that he could plunge it deep within his own heart. But he knew it would do no good, he had tried so many times to end his life to the point where he had lost count and had long ago came to the conclusion that he was truly immortal and that he would never die. He let the knife drop to the ground while he thought of the things he had done to himself. The states that he had let himself become and how always he would return, always he would heal, always he would be again. As he sat there consumed with his horrid thoughts he failed to notice a girl that was walking along the path way turn and begin to walk directly towards him. The girl had reddish brown hair that was tied back and brilliant green iridescent eyes. “Hello” she said in a shy but caring voice. “Are you okay?” It took a moment for her soft voice to travel to his ears and into his head. Past his thoughts to where they exploded in his mind creating quite a shock. He was so used to being just a shadow in the real world that it startled him to see someone take notice of him. He looked up and looked into her questioning face and innocent eyes. His mind raced with the thought of turning and running. His thoughts screamed at him not to bring this innocent being into the darkness of his life, not to scare her perfect life with his decay. But he ignored his own logical logical thoughts, pushing them aside as he allowed himself to become consumed with the caring ness of her voice and the possible idea that she may be able to help him. Hope flashed within his heart that she may be able to pull him from the downward spiraling path that he was trapped in. “No.” he replied, his voice low and sad. “Can I help at all?” The girl replied with an expression on her face that seemed to show she genuinely wanted to help him. He looked at her for a moment weighing up what he should do and what he should say. He began to speak not realising that once he opened him mouth torrents of words sprang free. He told her briefly of his life, what he was, what had happened to him and the things he had done to others. He told her of his empty numbness he was now feeling and the hopelessness that consumed him. He told her of the times he had tried to end his existence and the fact that nothing worked. He explained to her how he couldn't live anymore with the pain of watching all the ones he had loved grow old and die or be changed to being like him and eventually growing to despise him. As he spoke emotions where rising within him, mainly the sense of hope, hope that somehow with this innocent girls help he could be healed. He could open his eyes and see through the clouds that surrounded him, actually live again without this huge emptiness within him suffocating every good thought he had. But sadly as he spoke with his hope building up inside him he failed to notice the look of horror that had replaced the girl’s look of caring ness and the more he spoke the more her face changed to a look of pure disgust. By this time she noticed the blood on his hand but could see no wound she was beginning to think that she shouldn’t have approached this desperate person with his weird stories. She began to think that he must have escaped from some sort of mental institution and maybe she should leave and fast. He finished of by asking for her help, telling her that with her help he could rid himself of his internal darkness and be what he once was again. He asked desperately for her help, hoping that she would understand, but as he looked up at her face for the first time since he had began to speak he realized his mistake. Silence replaced the noise of his voice and the girl took a few steps back, her face twisted into an expression of hate and sickness. “What the fuck?" She yelled her voice holding a coldness that burnt his heart. "Are you mental you sick bastard, I’m getting the hell away from you freak.” And with that she began to turn to run away. But she wasn’t quick enough to flee and in a movement so quick it couldn’t be seen he stood with his hand wrapped tightly around her tiny neck. His eyes went vacant as anger spread throughout his mind. He felt his soul fading, he felt himself withering inside of himself as the last bit of human consciousness that he had snapped and vanished to the far corners of his mind. All that remained of him was a completely unfeeling, uncaring monster incapable of even the smallest amount of compassion. One red blood tear fell slowly from one of his eyes, it slowly ran down his expressionless cold face. The last noise the real him heard was the thud of the tear hitting the ground followed by the snap of this innocent child’s neck. Finally his pain ended, but he had also lost himself leaving an empty monster that had no thoughts other then to survive. |
