Not quite a poem, not quite lyrics. Written when I realised I was in love with a friend. |
BACKGROUND A few people have asked about the background on this piece so here it goes. A few years ago I met a lovely guy. We shared a lot of similar interests, had studied similar things etc. Even though we rarely saw each other, we communicated through e-mail. Then I went to university and, for 3 years I didn't hear from him and I put him to to the back of my mind, concerntrating on my studies and boyfriend. A few weeks ago we met up and I began to remember everything I'd felt for him and that's where the poem cam from. Phew! Said it! ********************************* A twinkle in your eyes. A sly smile playing on your lips. Your long fingers twisting around each other. From behind a mane of hair, You taunt and torment me. Pulling at my heart, Playing with my emotions. But you’re unobtainable, Untouchable. For a moment our eyes meet, And in that second I can see deep into your soul. Your dreams, desires and nightmares laid bare for me to read. Your smile widens, Knowing what I have seen. Why do you do this to me? Why do you torment me with the impossible? But you’re unobtainable, Untouchable. I know that to reach out and touch you, Reach out and kiss you, Reach out and be you, Will be a crime, A breach of the unwritten rules that exist between us. But I live in hope, Maybe one day you will realise how I feel. But you’re unobtainable, Untouchable. A twinkle in your eyes. A sly smile playing on your lips. Your long fingers twisting around each other. From behind a mane of hair, You taunt and torment me. Unobtainable, Untouchable. |
