Life versus a rollercoaster. An inspirational (hopefully) essay!

I never understood why people like riding roller coasters. I mean, lord. They give
you the feeling that you are going to fly out at any possible moment and splatter on the
wet pavement below. You wait in line for hours for a ride that lasts a few minutes.
The huge drops are enough to make me scream. And no, not the kind of
scream you'd expect from riding a coaster- the kind of scream that makes heads turn and
wonder who got slaughtered. They scare me. Really, how can you enjoy being afraid? The
feeling you get in your stomach when you are afraid is one I do not like to experience.
Honestly, I've only ridden one roller coaster. I couldn't wait to get off.

I never understood how people could be optimistic in the darkest moments of life.
I mean, geez. The feeling you get when things go wrong is awful. You try so hard just to
learn that one little detail ruins the whole thing. Hearing bad news gives you
that horrible feeling in the pit of your stomach. The one that makes you wonder: How can I
ever make it through this? Life scares me. Especially that feeling you get right after you
realize you've made the biggest mistake of your life. How will you ever get things right
again? That has to be the worst feeling in the world. Honestly. That feeling alone is
enough to make one not want to ever try again. I only have one life. I haven't even gotten
it started yet.

Roller Coasters...Life. Roller Coasters...Life. One is made of metal. The other
is made of time. Both have a lot of ups and downs. Both are enough to send me running in
the other direction at full force. Both scare me a lot. But I do see a big difference: If
you fall off a roller coaster, you'll probably die. If you fall off the pathway of life,
although it may seem like the end, there is probably another way to get back on.
