Revelation 12 The Woman and the Dragon
First Day: Read Lesson 15 Notes.

The notes and lecture fortify the truth of the passage for understanding and application to daily life.

1. What did you learn from the lecture about God’s victory over Satan? How does God’s triumph impact your life today?

2. How did the notes expand your thinking regarding God’s judgment and Christ’s eternal reign?

Second Day: Read Revelation 12:1-6.

John saw a woman, a child, and a dragon.

3. a. Describe the events that unfold in these verses.

Revelation 12:1-6
New International Version
The Woman and the Dragon

12 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[a] And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. 6 The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.

b. Who might each of the three figures represent?

The woman is Israel, the child is Christ, and the dragon is Lucifer.

4. a. What do the following verses say about the devil? Genesis 3:1-15

He is more crafty than any of the other creatures God made. He misquoted God’s instruction to Eve, and told her eating from the tree would make her like God. Eve called him a deceiver, God cursed him, more than livestock or beasts of the field. He will crawl on his belly and eat dust, and he the serpent will have enmity between himself and humanity. He can bruise a person’s heel, but have his head bruised in return.

John 8:44

Satan is a murderer from the beginning. He has no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks from his own nature, as a liar and the father of lies. This is why Jesus’s opponents are his children—they believe and act upon his lies.

1 Peter 5:8

The enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, so People must be sober and alert.

b. What effect does Satan’s influence have on human nature, and what is a person’s only hope? (See also Romans 1:26-32; 8:1-17; and 2 Timothy 3:1-5.)

Satan tempts, harasses, and attacks us. He steers us away from Jesus, encouraging us to believe we are in control. Those who refuse to believe in God were filled with desire for sin and perversion. Every evil is permitted, and encouraged by the enemy. People call good evil and evil good. Our only hope is salvation through Christ Jesus..

5. a. How did God protect the infant and mother in verses 5-6?

The child was taken to God and His throne. The woman was sent into the wilderness to a place prepared by God where she will be protected and nourished for 1,260 days.

b, In what ways has God protected you from Satan’s influence and bondage to sin?

By confession and submission to Him, and the certain knowledge that He Is always with me. I can rely on Him, and He will lead me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Third Day: Read Revelation 12:7-9.

War broke out in heaven.

6. Who fought against the dragon, and what was the immediate result?

Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. Michael prevailed. Satan and his angels were thrown down to earth, never to return.

7. Describe Satan’s relationship with God and his power in comparison with God’s power. (See also Job 1–2.)

Satan’s power is limited. His actions and abilities are constrained by God. God will allow certain things to occur(fifth and sixth trumpet blasts, Rev. 9.) Satan can fight and do damage, but will always lose to Almighty God. Satan can see and communicate with God, but not remain in His presence.

8. How does God’s power, compared with Satan’s, give you comfort and courage? (See also 1 John 4:4 or other Scriptures.)

I am comforted because I know Satan’s power will always lose to God. “On Christ the solid rock i stand, all other ground is sinking sand.” I have my security in Him, and while i might be buffeted on all sides, Satan can’t steal me out of Jesus’s hand.

Fourth Day: Read Revelation 12:10-12.

A voice in heaven rejoiced at the dragon’s defeat.

9. What did the loud voice in heaven say had come, and what had happened to the accuser?

The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come. The accuser has been hurled down.

10. Explain the following phrases in verse 11.

“They triumphed over him” (Colossians 2:15; James 4:7)

The enemy has no power or control over us. When we submit to Gods, Satan has no choice but to flee.

“By the blood of the Lamb” (Romans 5:9-11; Ephesians 1:6-10)

By the blood of Jesus, we are redeemed and reconciled to God. He let us know His will, and will see it fulfilled in the last days.

“And by the word of their testimony” (1 John 5:11-12; Revelation 1:3)

Our testimony comes from our faith in Jesus, and we who belong to Him have this prophecy revealed to the. We must be aware in this time, for the Day of the Lord is coming soon.

“They did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death” (Matthew 16:25-28; John 15:13)

Giving up your human life for eternity is more valuable than shrinking back from death. Dying here, and for others means eternity with Jesus.

11.a. From verse 12, compare what was happening in heaven with the experience on earth.

The heavens and everyone there are called upon to rejoice. The voice declared woe on the earth and sea, because Satan has come down in great wrath, because he knew his time was short.

b. What urgency does this create for you to speak the good news of the gospel with boldness?

If I don’t step forward, no matter how uncomfortable it is, these people may never hear the gospel from anyone else. I don’t know what tomorrow brings, so I have to use the time I have.

12. How does God’s certain victory over Satan strengthen you and impact your worship of Him?

I’m already strengthened. Why do I have to answer this question? I know God Is there for me and with me, so why do I have to subdivide my worship? I feel lik3 I have a laundry list to follow, not freedom to express myself. This question makes me feel trapped.

I will continue to worship keeping God’s word in mind.

Fifth Day: Read Revelation 12:13-17.

God protected the woman.

13. Whom did the dragon pursue and against whom did he wage war?

He pursued the woman who had given birth to the child. He made war on her offspring, those who keep the commandments of Gods, and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

14. a. How did God protect the woman? What did the serpent do in response?

Vid provided her with Eagle’s wings so she could fly into the wilderness. There she would go a place of refuge for three and one-half years. When the dragon trued to drown her by pouring out water from his mouth. The earth helped the woman, opening its mouth and swallowing the water the enemy poured out from his mouth.

b. Read Romans 5:12-19. How does God’s provision of the woman’s ultimate offspring, Jesus Christ, overcome Satan, sin, and death? What does this mean to you personally?

15. What comfort does God provide for those who keep His commands and hold fast to their testimony about Jesus?

Sixth Day: Review Revelation 12.
God delivers His people from Satan’s destructive grip.

16. How will you apply what you have you learned about God’s protection despite Satan’s fury?
