Kyrie

Kyrie-A word I heard when I was much younger,would take on a much deeper meaning than I realize. That word,I thought ,was a girl's name ,back in the 1980's,popularized by a band called Mr.Mister.It had an upbeat tempo,so naturally I would grow to like it , i would sing along ,not even realizing that the song title had a much more profound meaning.

Years later ,I would sing along as a choir sang ,"Kyrie,eleson".Ironically ,my sing along days when I was young,would get me a spot in a choir at a Greek Orthodox Church,where I used to live! It was in THAT choir,in THAT Church,where I would learn for the first time what Kyrie actually meant!

It means simply:"Lord,have mercy." If you can imagine the look on my face when I came to that realization! Pure amazement..All those years,and never knowing I was saying ,singing,and praying "Lord,have mercy",ALL THAT TIME!!!

I can choose to believe ,and I wholeheartedly do, that in whatever form ,God was teaching me a simple ,yet effective prayer of the heart! It's with me ,always!
