OVERCOME

In a bid to set a throne above that of God's because of pride, satan (who was a beautiful angel) conspired against God and won the heart of some other angels too; to join him in his plot
[Ezekiel 28:14-19, Isaiah 14:13]

But soon enough God the omniscient[all knowing] knew. War broke out in heaven.[spiritual warfare]; Michael[one of God's angels] together with other angels of God fought against the dragon[that old serpent, satan, the devil and the accuser of the brethren] and conquered.

"Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him."
Revelation 12:7‭-‬9 NIV

The devil and his angels were then cast down into the earth. So then,

" Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short. "Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus."
Revelation 12:12, 17

The devil is now doing everything possible to draw others to him to the lake of fire which has been prepared solely for him.
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."
1 Peter 5.8

Hence the need for us to fight and overcome, just as the God's angels in heaven fought and the devil was cast down to the earth, we must also fight and overcome the devil so we don't follow him to his city [hell]

"Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings"
1 Peter 5:9 NIV

But then, How can we overcome?
We must note that the devil [the enemy of our soul] cannot come to repentance and has already been doomed for destruction

We must understand and believe that the only force, power and name that can overcome that of the enemy and his forces is the blood of Jesus. The name of Jesus; the word of our testimony
"They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death."
Revelation 12:11‭

"Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God."
1 John 5:5 NIV

To overcome the enemy of our soul, we must allow Jesus into our hearts.

If you are ready to accept Jesus as Your Lord, Saviour and Friend; say this prayer.

Lord Jesus I know I am a sinner, I come before you today, forgive my sins and cleanse me with your blood. Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and Saviour and I believe you died and rose on the third day. Give me the grace to follow you to the end. Thank you Jesus for saving me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
