Cowboy song |
Gravel Road. When I was a boy down on the farm barely out of my mother's arms. I'd stand at the gate an wonder what lay at the other end of the gravel road. Sitting all day in the old school room steering out the window till I went home. Watching the buses leaving for whatever lay at the other end of the gravel road. I grew older both feet hit the ground grabbed my case an headed for the four O'clock Greyhound. Getting some of what lay at the other end of the gravel road. Met a girl an became a daddy got a good job in an auto factory - but the factory closed. That's the way it goes at the other end of the gravel road. Lost my house an they took my car my wife went home to her Mar 'n' Pa - an she took the kids. That's the way it is at the other end of the gravel road. I grew wiser though it knocked me to the ground grabbed my case an headed for the four O'clock greyhound. Had enough of what lay at the other end of the gravel road. Now I'm back and I'm bruised n broken the judge's words have all been spoken. I stand at the gate an wonder, what I did wrong at the other end of the gravel road. This old farm never looked so good feel more at home than I dreamed I could. An the whole damned world can stay, at the other end of the gravel road. Note.
