The Man in the Moon hears a nice tune
A song spun by the moon-cicadas
The music does jumble pillars of rubble
The Moon Man picks up the sweet sultry song
Cries aloud so all can hear
The Music, the Music
That rumbles off white cliffs from some place in the ground
He calls the Moon-bats from their upside down perches
At the dark side of the moon
They yammer and clamor
Sing "The Star-Spangled Banner"
Wake the beasts which dance and dance the night away
Altogether they caper 'cross the Moon
Into places of deep shadow
They lift their voices
Bring life to the whitescape of the Moon
Then the beasts tire
Bats fly off to be hung in the dust of the Moon
But still the Man croons
Dances, dances the night away
