The warmth of his thigh rested against hers, and she fell into that warmth, pulled there by the comfort of it, her head accepting the invitation to rest on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her instinctively, protectively and breathed in, inhaling the scent of the field and the mountains and something else that was uniquely her.
"What are we going to do?" she asked, her eyes still focused ahead to the mountains.
He squeezed his arms around her tighter before responding quietly, his voice low and decisive, "What we always do, Kitten: fight."
