This poem is dedicated to all who wait for a loved one to return from war. A Lilibonelle
Destiny
My mind is filled with unyielding fear
As I see you leave our warm home,
I know that your promise is to return to me.
But in war, sometimes promises are altered.

As I see you leave our warm home,
I recall the times we shared in happiness and love.
You held me in your arms in a way that I knew
Such genuine tender passion was meant for only me.

I know your promise is to return to me
And begin to restore what we had.
In our hearts, minds and dreams,
Our lives would live for the future, not in the past.

But in war, sometimes promises are altered.
An act was made that you would look back upon
And be changed in the blink of an eye.
I wait at home and wonder what our destiny will be for us.

This is a Lilibonelle style poem that was presented in Shaara Wanting Rain’s site for Poetry Forms Easily Explained. It has four stanzas of four lines each. The writer uses each line of the first verse as the first line for the other verses. More information is shared for the reader.
