How to use narrative exposure in counseling sessions and facilitate creative story telling
Short Story Counselor Introduction "Therapy Reader"

"I am less of a counselor and more of a facilitator. I can help you build attention to your short story with insight and integrity, the ethics and distribution is up to you."

This advertisement caught my attention. Usually, I find the "Therapy Reader" a useless piece of literature and horrible advice, but today I was wasting time in a coffee shop and it just happened to be laying in front of me. I victimized myself by opening the publication to only recognize that what I was about to expose myself to would change the course of of events not only in my life, but the lives of many others. This grave recognition happened as I took a sip of my hot coffee and without avail missed my lip and spilled it on me. The spill wasn't much, but enough to notice I had spilled something down the front of my shirt. I set my coffee down and placed the publication to the side. As I grabbed a napkin from the dispenser on the table, a lady walked to my side of the table and reached to the floor to pick something up. I moved my chair over as I cleaned the front of my shirt, alert that someone was in my space and I had no idea why. She stood back up and placed $20.00 bill on the table.

"Is this yours?"

"No, I don't think so, Oh wait let me check my purse."

Realizing I set my purse on the side of the table, I quickly turned to check inside. My purse was gone.

"I can't believe this." I said to the lady as I turned from one side of the table to the other.

"She just smiled."
