Its about baseball.
The Last Pitch
By: Brendan Concannon
Dom stepped on to the field. He was at his high school baseball tryout. Coach John split the guys into different groups. They were middle infielders, pitchers, catchers, and out fielders. Dom went with the pitchers because he was also the quarterback, so he thought throwing a baseball would be easy. Coach John called Dom to the mound. He asked if he has ever pitched before. Dom not lying said “no”. Coach John told him the basic steps of pitching. So Dom stepped up on to the mound and threw his first pitch. The pitching coach named Roger yelled from behind the backstop “eighty seven”. Dom threw another pitch. “Eighty nine” Coach Roger yelled. Dom threw his last pitch. He threw it as hard as he possibly could. “Ninety seven” Coach Roger yelled for the last time. Both the coaches talked for a couple minutes. After Coach John walked up to the mound and said congratulations you made the team and you don’t need to come to the next tryout days.
The next day when he entered the baseball locker room at Lakeside High School he got his baseball schedule. The first game was in five days. After that, the next couple days were just lousy practices. Dom was told that he would get the first start of the season! This was the next day. That next day his classes went by really slow. When he got dressed and got on to the field. When the game started Dom was sharp. He pitched really hard the first couple innings. He pitched really well the whole game and got the first win of the season.
Over the course of the season Dom went 9-0 and didn’t allow a run all year. The last game his classes finally flew by. He got on to the mound and again pitched really well. He pitched 8 2/3 innings. But on his last pitch he felt his elbow blow. Later that night the Doctor confirmed that he blew out his elbow and couldn’t play any sport again. That meant no football either! That is how the star came to an end.
