Its my view on a reincarnation from both lovers point of view.
[Introduction]
The battle raged on behind him. The profanities and swinging of swords was in every direction. Fires bloomed out of control, travelling upwards, creating walls, locking all warriors and victims in its inferno.
‘Tristan!’
He doesn't know how long he sat there holding the lifeless body to his own, trying to revive her. Tears had stopped flowing from his sapphire eyes and loneliness had settled inside his very soul.
‘’Tristan! Can you hear me?”
Thoughts of pain, anguish and death fleeted through his mind. Life without her was an intolerable contemplation. His life would be incomplete and desolate, without meaning.
Revenge. Death. The only two thoughts that made sense in a time of war. He brought his head up to find him self surrounded, not by enemies but his own men. They had won but what good is that knowledge now? Now he couldn't celebrate victory not when such sorrow weighed in his mind.
His sister knelt down beside him with tears to compensate for his own.
“ don’t feel ashamed brother. Make your grief known! Shout it to the gods who would take her from you! Shout it to the demons who made her bleed! Merge your sorrow with your actions Tristan. We are here for you my brother.”
“ she’s-“ he couldn't let go of any other word. If he admitted to it, if he consciously acknowledged her death it would be cemented in his mind for the rest of his life.
Her name was on his lips, her blood-soaked hair wisped with the wind leaving trails of dark red on his hands and her heart was still and cold.
“ Patience.” Her name was the sweetest he had ever known. It fit well with the orphaned girl he saved from the Fire Demons Lair naught but three years ago.
Although to the world he grieved his thoughts were not of sorrow but revenge.
I’ll avenge you my darling. And when the blood of your killer stains my hands I will join you. Even if it takes me a lifetime of searching I will exact my revenge on the Demon spawn who dared to take you away from me. Rest in peace my darling.
As he picked up her cold, limp body and carried her towards the sunset, the Sister and soldiers that followed sensed a bitter and distant change, expected of course but one could only hope such things would heal in time.
Many months later he looked over her tombstone set before the grand oak tree of which they had shared their first kiss and gradually began to kneel before it and place a single white rose.
“ Peace may not come as quickly for me as it has others. I fear it is because my soul was wrenched from my very body when you took your last breath. But what i do find peace in is one day we will see each other again and i can only hope it is within the near future. Until next time my darling girl. Until next time.”
