poem of desperation and freedom
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Saved by a Storm

The night was dark, windy and cold
Upon the ground snow was foretold
Another night of fear,  terror and pain
She can't take any more, the tears fell like rain

The urge to leave was stronger than ever
To leave this place now and forever
Face the fear her  mind kept saying
If you stay here you'll just keep paying

Happy and loving, it was good at the start
The man she had found had stolen her heart
Tender and kind, supportive and loving
But after a while he started shoving

Then he was yelling and pulling her hair
Hit with his fist and thrown down the stairs
Afraid to go out, battered and bruised
Used up, worn out, like an old pair of shoes

She has to get out, she fears for her life
She had tried so hard to be a good wife
Her dream was shattered, broken and gone
Why had she suffered so hard and so long

The wind it blew harder, the storm had arrived
The door had blown open, a chance to survive
She threw on her, coat, mittens and hat
Walked into the night and never looked back.
