an accident took place at the local swimming hole. the main character is a dead fish |
Once upon a time in a land far away, actually it was Lone Star, Texas a dead bass came floating in around us at the local swimming hole. It did not take long before the fish toss started. Someone threw it at me and it landed just in front of me, no harm no foul. I picked it up and threw it at my best friend and it hit him on the side of his head. There was no bounce and then a splash like there should have been. The main fin had embedded itself in the side of his head and it stuck there as if it had been glued there. Now when you live in a small town you will do just about anything to break the monotiny. I just did not figure on the end result. I should have never ever thrown that fish. I was a pitcher in Peewee Leaugue and Little League so I was probably the most accurate thrower there but I still was not trying to hit him in the head. Luckily there was a girl who had a car and a lead foot and a willingness to go fast. She took my buddy to the local hospital. I'm pretty sure she covered about two miles in about one minute, give or take a few seconds. We heard her top speed was around 90 mph. I'm no expert but that amount of speed will cover two miles quicker than you can say lickety-split, if you know what I mean. At the hospital emergency personnel cut the fin bone impaled in his head and pulled the rest of the fin out, doctored him up and sent him home. |
