This is a story about a close encounter with some rather fearsome dogs.
Someone told me they thought they were going crazy because they'd seen a giant black dog chained up in the air vent behind the old train house outside of town. Being me, I decided to go have a look around. I did find the air vent and the dog.

When I found the air vent, there was a lot of tepid air gushing out of it; warm, clammy and foul smelling. I looked into the air vent and there was a dog, a massive black dog. It definitely had some kind of bull dog in it, it looked how I imagined hell hounds to look. It looked like it was just a dog, lying there whimpering, I was about climb in and see if it was okay when it's head snapped up. It bared it's teeth and it's eyes glowed a vivid blue. I stumbled backwards in absolute shock. I noticed it was chained up around it's middle with a harness type attachment, and there were bones lying at it's feet. It started pulling at the chains, snarling and growling. The vent started to shake and I just knew it was going to break free; then the giant horse looking bulldog would be after me!

I backed away and sprinted for the house. It was a house build from an old train. As I got back to the sliding door I heard a crash behind me and I looked over my shoulder at the hell hound. It turned and shot around the other side of the house. I leaped inside but I only closed the door part way behind me. I launched myself at the other door in the room as the hell hound hit the other side. I struggled to keep it closed. The hell hound kept getting his head part way round the door, making snapping movements at me. Tears started running down my sweat and dirt streaked face, I just didn't know what to do!

I leaned against the door with both my hands, using my full body weight to push against it. I heard a low pitched menacing growl, but it was coming from behind me! I froze. I slowly turned my head to look over my shoulder (as the door in front of me kept shuddering under the hell hound's force) and I saw an enormous sandy, coloured dog. As I stared at it two more came to stand either side of it. It was obviously the leader, and judging by the snarls coming from it, it didn't like me!

I leaped back from the door and backed into the corner of the room. The door smashed open and the hell hound crashed through. Much to my surprise neither dog attacked me. The sandy coloured dog shifted it's attention from me to the hell hound and launched. To my absolute amazement the hell hound instantly dropped into a submissive position. It lay cowering on the floor, throat bared and a low pitched whine squeezed out. The sandy ridgeback stood over him with one giant paw on either side of his head, lips curled back over it's teeth, and it's teeth an inch from the hell hounds quivering throat. The massive ridgeback let out one more menacing growl, and just when I thought he was going to rip out the hell hounds throat he looked up and locked eyes with me again. Eyes that were now glowing, a horribly vivid blue. He backed up, slowly letting the hell hound up bit by bit.

The ridgeback then turned away and walked over to me, licked my face and walked off with the other two 'back up' dogs, leaving me alone with the hound. I don't think I needed to to worry immediately because the hound was sitting quite peacefully in the middle of the room where the ridgeback had left it. It turned to look at me, and I tensed up again. As I stared at it, unable to move, it's eyes started transitioning right in front of me. The icy blue colour bled out, leaving them a rich chocolate brown. The hell hound got up and moved towards me, I cringed backwards but he too just came up to me and licked the other side of my face, before turning and sauntering out the room.

I was left sitting in a snotty heap on the floor, alone, wondering what the hell had just happened.
