A poem about appreciating life.
Life, Unnoticed
Trees everywhere dig in deep, dark roots
As they start their lives anew,
They pull in the rainwater as it empties from the sky,
Absorbing nutrients from rich soil,
Soaking in golden rays of blinding light.

But one specific tree thrives as it grows,
Unnoticed by all.
No eyes to watch the young life unfold.
A miracle of life ignored,
Happy awakening pushed aside.

People walk past without a second glance
Day in and day out.
Words of concern for other, sick, or unruly trees form
And this single, small tree wonders
“Why must one suffer in order to be noticed?”

Until one glorious day-
The young tree has gone,
Upturned soil noticeable where once there was life.
People finally see the life they have missed,
Taken for granted, and it has been there all along.

Why haven’t they seen it?
