Romance Poem
Into you I seek to flow complete
One and one is one and only one
What walls and dams you make to separate
And why? Is there some other way?
A river that can never find a lake
I never saw your face or heard your voice
Yet knew that you were there and just for me
Am I so special made that I should keep
Some part of me beyond love’s gate?
Holding from for purpose what or who
And what of you should not subsume in me
But keep yourself for what purpose be?
If ordained our passions meet complete
And carry so to heaven’s celestial bed
Should that part apart then so remain
Tethered here alone to what and when?
In love can passion stand alone?
In passion is there no room for love?
As cloud and sky are just one dome
Would lust for you be other than my love
That you would banish it in seeking what
To tear the meadow from the woods
So they enjoy the birds in solitude
One calls and none to answer in its song
Or should our passions stay within some bound?
What rule of law would set that it be so?
The stars shine in the day as well as night
Though feeble eyes do not see it so
Should feeble egos then make love’s eyes blind
By ruling passions only here and how?
And standing separate play at being one
Or play as one in lusty passion’s love
Into you my river runs and is at home
