The Cat's yellow eyes shone, like gold; her fur jet-black and smooth as silk, shimmered in the moonlight; she looked ferocious as she slipped through the trees. There was a crunch, the cat froze, her eyes followed the sound to a small pile of leaves, she began to creep along closer and closer, her body was flat against the ground, her paws glided over the earth without a sound, her muscles quivered ready to pounce. A Mouse sat under the leaves nibbling on some grass unsuspecting of the danger right above him, suddenly the cat was upon him, there was such confusion, the mouse burst from the leaves and began to run as fast as his tiny feet could carry him. The cat chased the poor little mouse, she caught him by his velvety tail, his tiny heart was beating out of his chest, she held him in her paws, and played with him; she let go of him and grabbed him again, but then she fumbled with him, he slipped from her grasp and disappeared into the roots of a great old oak tree. The cat was simply infuriated having let such a great prize get away from her, she slunk away through the woods, down the path, and up the stairs to a small cabin. She then proceeded to the door, pawed, and let out a pitiful little mew the door opened and she disappeared into the house. The Mouse sat in his snug burrow safe from the cat, his pounding heart began to slow to a normal pace. Next time the mouse was so careless he may not get away so easily from The Cat...
