First baby steps against suicidal depression. It's hard to go cold-turkey, so start small.
Tonight,
like every night,
lying awake on your cold, hard bed,
tempted and tortured
like tantalus anew,
death has it's icy grip on you.

Tossing and turning to get a new view,
can't shake the feeling, stuck like glue.

Gotta end, gotta kick it
this old habit of life.
Not a cakewalk down the boardwalk,
but sharp as a knife.

You keep saying, repeating,
belief so fleeting,
but all the same you're always thinking:

Tonight, tonight
just one more night,
hold on through the pain for the break of dawn.
Do it, just do it, one more day -
just make it tonight and it'll be okay.
Tomorrow you say will be your reward,
see if you make it and tally the board.
Then tomorrow is yours when you finally give in
and slip into sweet oblivion.

Night after night
you fight and you claw,
wishing tonight was the end of it all.
But somehow you do it, work up the gall
to make it one more, it's life's last call.

One more night of misery and torment,
but why keep it going, there's nothing dormant:
No help, no cure,
no hope to resolve
the problem you are
that needs to dissolve.

Tonight, tonight
just one more night -
hold on through the pain for the break of dawn.
Do it, just do it, one more day -
just make it tonight and it'll be okay.
Tomorrow you say will be your reward,
see if you make it and tally the board.
Then tomorrow is yours when you finally give in
and slip into sweet oblivion.

Why do you care?
You don't even know.
Why save you,
someone so low?
So just like always you promise yourself -
to end it you vow,
soon enough you'll take your bow.

Like a faithful friend in the depths of despair
that constant promise like a breath of fresh air -
you gulp it down
to flip the frown
and let a smile creep over your face.
Soon enough you'll leave in haste;
departing the world to never look back,
no other thought can give what you lack:

A sense of peace to slake your thirst
with the thought of your life about to burst.
Like a bubble on a pin you'll never win
but until then you repeat again:

Tonight, tonight
just one more night -
hold on through the pain for the break of dawn.
Do it, just do it, one more day -
just make it tonight and it'll be okay.
Tomorrow you say will be your reward,
see if you make it and tally the board.
Then tomorrow is yours when you finally give in
and slip into sweet oblivion.
