flash fiction regarding everyday agonies...
He sat in agony. Pains clenched and compressed his bowels. Meek whimpers escaped him. Beads of sweat collected on his brow. His conscious mind held but one emotion: panic. Would he be left here, in suffering’s cruel palm? Was the antidote coming? A second passed like the anguish of an hour. The light’s dimness seemed to mimic his dying hopes of liberation. This blackness was hell, he was sure of it. There was no humanity in abandoning a man in such a pain and such crippling state. Clutching his abdomen he groaned once more. His faith was nearly exhausted when salvation came. The cure to his ailments arrived, delivered by what could only be the most merciful of angels. She received his beaming grin of gratitude and relief as she set the plate before him. He then proceeded to dig his meaty hands into the soggy, grease-perspiring mega jumbo Philly cheese stake; shoveling it into his salivating orifice, easing the horrid discomforts of skipping a pre-before lunch snack.
