Oh pain you are with me so I am awake
You are here so my sleep you take
You are the shadows in my room
You are the reason for my gloom

You cause my tears
Do I have any left?
You cause my sorrow
I dread tomorrow

You cause my grief
You steal from me like a thief
I cannot think you take my thoughts
What can I do in such a fraught?

When I was young you did not stay
Now I am older please go away
I hear those older than I
They ask please Lord please why can I not die

Is this what I have in the twilight of my life?
Pain so fears now I wish to die
I know why you exist
But you friendship I want to resist

You quickly overtake those who do not know
But you chose me much slowly though
I know there are people who suffer more than I
But please Lord please when can I die?
